The Don'ts of Cleaning Marble

The Don'ts of Cleaning Marble

Marble is a natural stone that is sensitive to acidic substances and abrasive materials. The following issues can occur if inappropriate cleaners are used on marble:

  1. Etching: Marble is susceptible to etching when it comes into contact with acidic substances such as lemon juice, vinegar, or certain acidic cleaning products. Etching results in dull spots or a loss of the polished finish on the marble surface.

  2. Staining: Marble can absorb liquids, and certain staining agents like colored beverages, oils, or harsh chemicals can cause discoloration or staining. Stains can be challenging to remove from marble surfaces.

  3. Scratching: Abrasive cleaners or cleaning tools with rough surfaces can scratch the surface of marble tiles. Over time, this can lead to a loss of the stone's natural shine.

  4. Dulling: The use of inappropriate cleaners can strip away the sealant applied to marble during installation or maintenance. This can leave the marble more vulnerable to damage, including dulling and staining.

The tricky part of  using a marble cleaner is many cleaners available at your local stores are either on the high PH or low PH end  of the scale and both are very damaging.  Give our Granite  & Stone Tile Cleaner  a  try you'll  see the difference!
